ON 6.5 - A special and unique feast of kimchi
Unlike typical wine bars that usually have Western menus, this was a wine bar with a classy and refined atmosphere where you could drink Korean food and wine.
The service was good to match the luxurious atmosphere, and the food was delicious. However, the prices for the food and wine were a bit high, and it was closer to a Korean restaurant that sells wine rather than a wine bar.
On6.5 is located at the beginning of the alley leading from Anguk Station to Bukchon Hanok Village. In the alley, a restaurant with a clean, classy atmosphere and a glass window stood out.
When I went inside, I was guided to a table and my coat was taken directly to me and hung in a separate space.
many types of wine were sold, about 20 to 30 each, including red, white, natural, champagne, and sparkling. At first, I tried to choose between white wines, but the Korean alcohol menu on the back page caught my eye, so I ordered MAKGEOLLI, one of the Korean alcohols.
After ordering, I was given a pre-dinner drink. A tray with detailed explanations of pre-dinner drinks was provided along with a ceramic carafe and appetizers in English.
I also really liked the introductory text, which states that at a banquet held by the king of the Joseon Dynasty, libations were given to distinguished guests with gratitude. The pre-dinner drink had a nice sour taste with a basil flavor, and the appetizer was a snack with kimchi and mousse between sweet potato chips, and it was really delicious.
Next, we were served abalone kimchi kimbap. Abalone kimchi and aged kimchi were placed on top of white rice wrapped in gamtae. The texture of the white rice and gamtae, and the small cauliflower dongchimi on top were really delicious.
The next menu item was fried kimchi. The kimchi tempura is made of shrimp, garlic, and pickled red peppers, stuffed with white kimchi and seaweed and fried, and dongchimi shower cream is placed on top like noodles. The Dongchimi sour cream was amazing because they used a machine to make it themselves and sprinkled it on top. When eating the kimchi fries with the shower cream on top, the taste of the warm fries immediately following the refreshing and sour shower cream was truly exquisite.
Lastly, the cabbage wrap menu came out and it was tteokgalbi wrapped in cabbage. The tteokgalbi tasted ordinary, but the soy sauce-based sauce was still very delicious, and the texture of the tteokgalbi wrapped in cabbage wrap was also very good.
On 6.5 has a quiet, luxurious atmosphere and all of the food is prepared neatly, so I thought it would be a great place to have a drink with a special person on a special day. Since it is a wine bar, there are many different types of wine, so it would be nice to drink wine, but it is also recommended to drink wine after refreshing your mouth with a refreshing and delicious MAKGEOLLI before drinking wine.
