Starbucks Gyeongdong 1960
Starbucks opened a retro store in Gyeongdong Market, an old traditional market in Korea.
Starbucks Gyeongdong 1960.
It is a remodeled version of the Gyeongdong Theater built in the 1960s.
It has a total size of 363.5 pyeong and consists of about 200 seats on the 3rd and 4th floors of the main building of Gyeongdong Market.
When I entered the store, I felt like I was in a movie theater. The somewhat dark theater-style lighting created a warm and cozy atmosphere.
The existing theater structure was also maintained.
The space where the screen was was converted into seats as ordered, and the audience seats were converted into seats, giving a panoramic view of the store from the very back on the 4th floor.
The wooden ceiling especially stood out. On one wall of the store, order numbers were displayed as if the ending credits of a movie were running.
The order counter top was shredded and recycled from Starbucks stock tumblers. We also plan to organize in-store performances and regularly feature cultural and artistic performances by local artists.
In front of the store, the ‘Geumseong Radio Refresh Center’, a unique experience space created in collaboration with LG Electronics, was introduced.
Decorated with a retro concept, it provides new experiences for young people and memories for middle-aged people.
Here, black-and-white TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines, which were introduced for the first time since the establishment of Goldstar, the predecessor of LG Electronics, in 1958, were exhibited.
